A documentary giving voices to Gays, Lesbians,Bisexuals, Transgenders and Intersex who are discriminated in all policies and how they struggle to survive in Uganda. Behind the Mirror features Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, Transgender, and Intersex  Ugandans how they face many challenges, including discrimination in health care, workplaces, homes, and schools. Many LGBTI Ugandans are treated unfairly, with hatred and lack of respect. However, this is gradually changing because of the visibility of some courageous Ugandan LGBTI activists, as well as more gays and lesbians coming out of the closet. Now the Ugandan LGBTI communities demand space, dialogue, and equal rights, to be understood and accorded the same health care rights like every one else in Uganda. Some members of the LGBTI communities who are living with HIV/AIDS had difficulties in accessing treatment, due to stigma.                              LGBTI Ugandans are constantly harassed by the law, because Ugandan laws criminalize consensual homosexual relations. Some members of the LGBTI communities have been evicted from their homes, abused, isolated, beaten, ‘outed’ in the media, and denied employment because of their sexual orientation. In this documentary we will investigate and advocate for responses to the many challenges faced by the LGBTI community in Uganda. This documentary will feature testimonies of LGBTI Ugandans, about their struggle to survive and to comprehend their sexual orientation, in a very hostile and homophobic society. Among those featured in the documentary will be members of the various LGBTI communities in Uganda. The documentary will address many issues: confronting health care discrimination of LGBTI communities; why, when and how to ‘come out’; understanding of the transmission and prevention of HIV/AIDS, reaching out to MSM (men who have sex with men) to seek out their voices, painting a clear picture to the world on what responses have been undertake n to eliminate HIV/AIDS within the LGBTI Communities in Uganda, as well as the constraints in executing these responses within the LGBTI communities. Among those interviewed will be LGBTI activits, doctors, HIV/AIDS key players , human rights activists, and members of the LGBTI communities. Through their testimonies and wisdoms, we will seek the future directions for the LGBTI communities and movement in Uganda, to make Uganda one of the more progressive countries for LGBTI rights and equality in Africa.
