The Call Ministries - Lou Engle in Uganda 2nd May 2010 The Call Ministries made us believe in their statement that Luo Engle’s prayer meeting will not express statements that will escalate homophobia in Uganda. However the meeting was homophobic during which, religious and political leaders expressed homophobic views and called upon the parliament of Uganda to quickly pass the anti homosexuality bill without further discussion.
The Prayer Meeting 2nd May, 2010 : 2PM to 6:30PM at Makerere University Soccer ground – Kampala Uganda. Attended by religious and political leaders who included: Apostle John Mulinde, Pastor Kimuli, Apostle Julius Oyet, Nantongo, Elijah Kintu, Ndugwa, Apostle Ephraim Nyonyintono, Pastor Nkambwe, Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo – Uganda’s Minister for Ethics and integrity and his family, Hon. David Bahati ( the sponsor of the Uganda anti homosexuality bill 2009), The family life network, international and local media.
Before a congregation of about 300 people, the opening prayer was led by Pastor Agatha. In the opening prayer she asked God to help the parliament of Uganda pass the anti-homosexuality bill without debate or any further discussion, as she continued to say her prayer she indicated homosexuality as the top most priority in Uganda above; corruption, terrorism, witchcraft, among issues of immorality in Uganda.
Apostle Julius Oyet Apostle Julius Oyet during the prayer meeting said, that children are being attracted to homosexuality for monetary gains like school fees and that Uganda was not going to be intimidated into accepting homosexuality. During the congregation he prayed for Members of Parliament, Ministers, the business community, religious leaders, cultural leaders and all Ugandans to declare Uganda as none homosexuality nation.
Lou Engle. While addressing the congregation Luo Engle said, he learned of Uganda through Apostle John Mulinde and that he did not know anything about the anti-homosexuality as he planned his visit to Uganda. He said that, he later learned about the anti homosexuality bill and he debated whether to come to Uganda or not, due to the international controversy around the anti homosexuality bill. Lou Engle in his prayer encouraged Ugandan pastors to stand firm because they have been chosen to lead the world in the fight against homosexuality and that they are standing for the truth. Luo Engle said. “ Pastors don’t hate gays or spread hate but non government organizations, United Nations, UNICEF, among others are promoting a homosexual agenda which is against the teachings of the church”. “Uganda’s Motto is for Uganda and My Country, and it is not Winston Churchill who named Uganda the Pearl of Africa, it was God using Churchill to name Uganda the Pearl of Africa.” ‘Uganda is a Christian nation and God loves everyone trapped in sin but marriage was established between Man and woman for the wellbeing of children’’. “The government of Uganda should uphold righteousness in this land”. “America has lost the fight against the homosexual agenda and homosexuality has got into schools. Parents are even losing power over their children as schools are teaching them that homosexuality is okay”. “God is using Uganda as ground zero or a starting point for the rest of the world against homosexuality. God chose Uganda”.
At the end of his prayer Luo Engle called forward young people below the age of 30 years and they were blessed to be the front runners in the fight for morality in Uganda.
Luo Engle’s son: Luo Engle’s son also prayed for the sexually broken.
Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo Minister of Ethics and Integrity Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo Minister of Ethics and Integrity as he addressed the congregation, he said, “all Ugandans are expected to follow what God says, if God says homosexuals are wrong, who can stand up and say that they have rights. Homosexuality is not a human rights issue; it is a sin and an abomination. We have laws showing that we don’t want homosexuals but we feel these laws are not strong enough hence the need to pass the anti homosexuality bill , without debate, Hon Nsaba Buturo continued to say, there is need for us to pray for Hon David Bahati and Members Parliament so that they can pass the anti homosexuality bill without debate. It is our business to do what God says not what people abroad think, however powerful the nations are. Uganda will not accept that nonsense. Our dignity is not for sale. We don’t hate homosexuals but they are lost and we are helping them. Uganda is leading the world in fighting homosexuality and we will not accept any intimidation because if God is on our side who can be against us. Why is homosexuality an issue today when it was not some years back?”At the end of his talk People rose up and applauded him. Hon Nsaba Buturo invited Hon David Bahati on stage with great applause and he praised Hon David Bahati as a hero. Hon Nsaba Buturo then asked all the pastors pray for Hon David Bahati. A final prayer was made for homosexuals to turn to God.
